Hi, just wondering if anyone has had a rhinoplasty abroad, if so would you recommend it, who was it with and how much did it cost? Also has anyone had a rhinoplasty in the UK if so who was it with and how much did it cost? Just that I went for a consultation with a private medical group and their guide price was £3990, which i thought was a little excessive. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Speaking from experience, If you made your expectations clear to your surgeon prior to surgery and the result is significantly short of what was agreed upon, I would suggest seeking out a more qualified and experienced surgeon. Your result is HIGHLY dependent on the skill of your surgeon. I paid well over 10k for my revision procedure and I'm only in my twenties. The results have made my search and expenses to enlist the services of a highly capable surgeon well worth it. If it has only been 3 weeks since your rhinoplasty and you are this distressed about the results I would strongly suggest seeking out an abundantly qualified surgeon for what will hopefully be your second and last procedure.
With that said there will be minor swelling that persists for many months after the procedure. However, if there is an obvious feature that still persists a month after surgery, no amount of time is going to significantly change it. The only way to remedy it is in the hands of a capable surgeon.
Finally, you will know an abundantly skilled surgeon when you come across one. You will be impressed by the large number of positive and aesthetically pleasing photographs detailed on their website or in their office. You will also be impressed by the depth and breadth of their knowledge regarding revision and primary rhinoplasty. There are a few surgeons out their on the net that have extensive websites devoted to sharing their knowledge of the art of science of nose job surgery. There are a few surgeons like Dr.Rivkin that intimately detail the steps to achieve various goals in rhinoplasty, both by showing examples of how it was done wrong and how it was done right. If you come across a surgeon with this level of skill the chances for a good result, as long as you express your expectations clearly to them, are really quite high.

With the current exchange rates (1 GBP = $1.44) the price quoted you $3990 = $5745.6. At that price it does seem like they are charging more than typical rates (in the US at least) In the US the typical maximum cost (according to http://www.plasticsurgeryportal.com/rhi ... 0122225606) is $4900 or GBP 3405. I know that in the US some insurance companies will cover the cost of a Rhinoplasty if there is a medical reason for it, such as a restriction of airflow. It may be worth your time and money to price a few more places before deciding on the best one. Do remember that the cheapest price does not always ensure equal value or skill by the surgeon. Good Luck and I hope this helped!

I checked on Internet for plastic surgery overseas and:

- In Argentine you will pay for a rhinoplasty between 2200 US$ and 2800 US$

- In Brazil between 2500 US$ and 3000 US$

- In Bolivia, I had my surgery done there with MakeoverTravel and I paid 1900 US$ (with 10 days in a hotel included). i recommend them. MakeoverTravel.com

- In Mexico my best friend had her surgery in Guadalajara with Dr. Morales and she paid 2000 US$ but she had to pay the hotel and all the fees there.

- In Costa Rica, for a rhinoplasty you will pay between 2200 and 2500 US$

- in Colombia = Costa Rica

Rhinoplasty is performed using one of two techniques: the open technique or the closed technique. Both techniques involve incisions made inside the nostrils, but the open technique makes a second incision in the fleshy skin between the nostrils. The skin is separated and adjustments are made to the bone and cartilage. Bones may be broken or chiseled depending on the patient's desired result. Cartilage may be trimmed. The nasal passages are then packed and an external splint is applied. The packs are removed in 24 hours but the splint is worn for about a week. The operation normally takes 1-2 hours and can be done under general or local anesthesia.

You can have some research about the Rhinoplasty on some countries like Thailand. You can have more information about the surgery there.
