I have very light blonde eyebrows and reddish hair, and filling in my brows everyday or having them dyed is getting very old. I'm trying to find something a little more permanent.

Has anyone had permanent makeup applied, or had any other experience with it? I've heard that it is a form of tattooing. Does it cause similar side effects, such as peeling? Would I need to shave the area prior to treatment? Would the coloration look natural, or more line a filled-in line?

I live just north of Fort Lauderdale, so if you have any clinician suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks :D

I'm sorry, that should have been "Would the coloration look natural, or more like a filled-in line?"

I'm sorry you haven't heard much on this yet. From what I've seen and read about of permanent makeup, I get the sense that--much like any cosmetic procedure--the result really depends heavily on the artist's exerpience and skill. I unfortunately have no specific recommendations or first-hand advice.. But, I would strongly suggest that you attend at least 2-3 consultations with different permanent makeup artists and be sure to look at before & after photos of previous clients who've had eyebrows done. Maybe even ask to speak with a few referrals. I do think that sometimes permanent brow design can look like an obvious line, but I bet if you do your research, you'll find someone who knows how to avoid that. Good luck.

Hi,

I had my eyeliner done about 4 times by a gal in a salon. I was DELIGHTED with the results.

I decided to get my lipliner done. Huge mistake. It is very assymetrical on teh upper lip. She went onto the regular skin (crossing the vermilion border) on one side so it is much differnet on each side. The color looks great in some light but looks bluish in some lighting.

I use cosmetic lasers and removal of tattoos with iron oxide is very problematic.

I would NOT recoommend permanent cosmetics.

I had my brows and lips done about a year ago. She did a great job and selected colors that suited my complexion. She did a sort a stroking tech. so that they looked really natural and not drawn on at all. She worked with me first to find a shape that worked with my face, she then plucked the area. I had two sessions. I also had to wait two weeks to get another coloring on top of the first. The area did peel and needed time to heal. The color goes through oxidation. At first it looks super dark, but it then fades and looks the way you want it to. I freaked out for the first week thinking I had super dark brows. I have auburn hair and fair skin. I was pleased with the end results. It is so much easier to keep the shape with a so called outline. It cost me a bit of cash though. I think it was about $800. Unfortunately, my brows quickly faded. I'm thinking about going back to her.

Since she did such a great job I had her outline and fill in my lips with a very very natural color. With sheer gloss it simply looks like a heathly flesh tone pink. Since I have small lips it really helped a lot. She numbed my lips first. I can say it wasn't the most pleasant experience. SHe hit nerves that caused my to sneeze a lot. I only had one session for my lips since I wanted a natural color.

I will state I'm not huge into make-up. I stressed I wanted a natural look that would help me get up and go in the morning.

If you plan on having it done make sure you do your research. Go for a several consults. with different people that are trained in cosmetic make-up, ask to see pictures, look at her face to see if she's had it done, check for credentials, cleanliness of place, and fresh needles etc etc.

I have had this and I am very happy with the result.

You need to be comfortable with the tech doing your work.

If you are in the central Ohio area, Anne Bentley at Unique Beautique in Pataskala has years of experience and is truly an artist. Her prices are very reasonable as well.
