i was having botox injections for around 2 and half years,(approx every 5 months), after my first botox injection i had a hysterectomy 5 months later, well all hell broke out, for the past 2 year i have been so sick all the time, feeling run down, headaches, sinus problems, low in energy, really really bad anxiety, hot flushes, nite sweats, alway feeling hot, getting sick all the time, feeling like i had the flu, hormones really really bad, couldnt take any medication for the anxiety, the meds made my headaches worse and the anxiety worse, eventually i couldnt take any medication even panadol made my head worse, everything good for me i just couldnt eat or drink, i became allergic to herbs, when i tried to take detox stuff or innerhealth plus, it made me feel 100 times worse, after blaming my hysterecomy for 2 years, i went to a naturopath who informed me that my immune system was alarmed and asked my what i was taking, after telling my story of not being able to get anything into my body we just chatted, upon where i said that i had botox and was due for some more, she said i dont need to look any further, thats your problem, she has tried numerous times to get detox stuff into me, to get out the residue (what ever botox leaves our body with), after no success, she has sent me to a lympathic draining and microcurrent machine therapist who also praticises polarity balancing, i have been going for 3 weeks now, she is treating me for bacteria build up in my body, anxiety, liver and kidney function and upper respiratory problems i am detoxing with her, and feel like i have been hit with the worst flu, i have been coughing not sleeping well, all but lost me voice, but she says this is my body healing, i hope i have better news for you soon, has anyone found a way to rid our bodies of this alien force ???? i have also been having accupuncture for 12 months thinking it was my hormones, thank GOD i found this natropath and she did a blood analysis because only now do i no it is the botox, not the hysterectomy doing this to me, i only found out in July so here goes

I am very sorry to hear about your problems but i do not see how they connect to having had botox?? be careful with naturopaths they love people like yourself and call anything that is not natural. In other words THEY SAW YOU COMING. Stop blaming the botox. if you decide not to have botox again that is your decision but do not put blame where there is no evidence.

Hi, hopefully you byebotoxq have read some other of the posts here, there are many people ill just like you, and I am one of them. I have had this confirmed from a neurologist. I posted under the boyfriends post about his girlfriend.

There is also a thread here about people with sinus infections, and other problems after receiving botox injections. It is also listed on the manufacturers prescribing info, you just have to go to their website.

There are more and more people who are finding others, like here, that have become ill after botox, and I sure am one of them. I won't do it again.

I hope you are doing a lot better. Sera

I hope that you are feeling better. I wonder if you're blaming the botox rather than the effects of your hysterectomy? If your ovaries were removed, for instance, you could certainly get all these symptoms, flushing, weakness, etc. On the other hand, Botox is a very specific chemical. It doesn't contain "bacterial residue" or bacteria. It is a purified protein made by bacteria that binds to the acetylcholine receptor on muscle cells and renders them inactive until a new one is produced by the cell (up to 3 months time). Although lots and lots of side effects are listed by the manufacturer, that is because when you do a clinical study, you have to record what people complain about, whether or not it's real. For instance, nausea is listed as a side effect of almost every drug out there (who doesn't get nauseated sometimes?). The only common side effect is due to the direct action of the chemical - weakness of muscles. So if you inject in the wrong place or inject way more than you're supposed to (e.g. by using black-market stuff, so you don't know what you're getting) then you can cause local or systemic muscle weakness.
Beware of naturopaths and other alternative medicine practitioners. They often prey on desperate patients. Such disciplines (if they can be called that) are alternative because they operate on faith or belief-based systems rather than on treatments that have been scientifically tested. For instance, accupuncture is based on the belief that there are lines of chi energy running through your body. That's neat but about as testable as "The Force" or talking to dead people. Study after study comparing sham treatment to accupuncture have shown no difference. I have an even lower opinion of people that purport that we are filled with "toxins" and must "detoxify" ourselves. Could they please elaborate on these so-called toxins? Is there more data?

It's been six months from my first and last botox injection. I was so praying the 6 month mark would be a good thing but I'm having the worse headaches ever. It feels like my head is going to explode, just intense pressure. I hope this ends!!! This site has given me the only support I have through this and I hope I can be of support to anyone out there too. PLEASE DO NOT GET BOTOX!!
